6 Months

We have made it to 6 months and I feel like time is just slipping through my fingers!!  Lillian is days away from real crawling. She can move 2-3 feel on her own but it’s more of an inchworm rock-n-roll than a crawl. Just last month she was already getting on her hands and knees and rocking, so I’m sure the real thing is not too far behind. But until crawling actually happens, we’re in this lovely sweet spot where I can leave her with toys on the floor and she can happily play while I get caught up on a few chores. Lately her biggest obsession is with noisy, light up toys, anything on wheels and anything in my hands.  We are on a pretty awesome nap schedule at the moment.  Sleeping for an hour and 15 minutes or so at 9am and again at 1pm. Then 40 minutes to an hour around 5 with a bedtime of 8. This is the first time in 6 months that I’ve been able to predict my day by the clock. It kind of rocks.

Here in the Cook house, we are pretty excited that the Holidays have arrived! Halloween decor has come down & we are ready to slowly start incorporating some Christmas stuff throughout the house. Super exciting that Thanksgiving is a week earlier than it was last year because that means it will be acceptable to put up the Christmas tree sooner! The down side? Waiting for hubby to join us. The up side? Having it all ready for when he comes home!!

We had a wonderful time this month with our best friends Lindsey and Adelyn who joined us for almost two weeks on Whidbey Island. We had such a blast; exploring the island, visiting Canada, crafting and spending good quality time together with our girls. We even had a few days of sunshine =) The trip could not have come at a better time for the four of us.

For thanksgiving we flew to Nebraska to spend with The Noble's. Lillian did wonderful on the flight and slept the entire time- round trip! What a breeze she was to travel with. Lillian had a wonderful time visiting with Aunt Brigitte, Uncle Jonny, my cousin JR, his wife Erin and their baby girl Sophia. It was wonderful to be surrounded by family and for us to be together on Thanksgiving. Lillian saw her first snow, rode her first merry-go-round and went to her first concert- a symphony.  She really enjoys music.

It's true that once Halloween comes, November and December fly by in the blink of an eye. I wish I could slow time just a little bit and bottle up all of the sweetness that will come with Lillian's first holidays! I have always heard women describe their love for their children as like no other emotion on earth and I finally understand.
