7 Months

We have been looking forward to lots of holiday fun this month and reuniting with Phillip!   I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Black Friday & Christmas decorating weekend! The day after Thanksgiving is one of the most fun days of the year... there is just magic in the air! We loved our long weekend at home together.. decorating the halls and our tree is finally up.   I think it goes without saying, Lillian has been such a good girl this year! I keep telling myself, "she is the best kid ever!!" She is the happiest, silliest and sweetest baby.  Santa is going to be very good to her!

We have thoroughly enjoyed having our main squeeze home with us. Daddy and Lillian have been bonding so much it melts my heart to watch. Not only are they able to spend quality time together, it's nice to have a second set of hands around to assist with diaper changes, bath and bedtime allowing Mommy peaceful potty breaks and showers that don't require head peeking outs to listen for baby girl. I was use to our routine and found it more difficult to allow him to jump right in in- I had to let go of my "I've been doing this myself, (the right way), don't worry Ive got it!" attitude. We are now living together as a family of three and I absolutely love it. Except I can't leave the two of them alone... picture clarifies that point! lol.

She is growing FAST. I can hardly believe my own two eyes. She is pulling herself up on everything, crawling and eating gerber puffs like they are going out of style. Also? She gets cuter every single day. We have hit the stage where she is constantly learning new things. She seems to be mimicking me and I learned that if I made silly faces and noises that she would laugh, so guess who now makes silly faces and noises all day long?

I dropped her evening nap.  I had a feeling she could go without it but I shifted her mid-day nap back a little and bedtime up to 7:00 so now we have two naps – at 9 and 2ish – that each last 1-1.5 hours. Life with a 7 month old is SO MUCH EASIER than life with a 3 month old.  Everyone told me when she was a little baby “It gets easier!” and they were right. We have entered the world of mobility which so far I prefer to non-mobility. She can crawl!! While I have to keep a closer eye, I love that she is more in control of her body and able to entertain herself.  I’m sure walking is a whole new ball game, but for now we’re good with crawling. There have been less head bonks and tumbles this month than ever before. Long gone are the days though, where I could leave her playing in the middle of the rug and trust that she wouldn’t move until I got back. Now I have to keep the eye in the back of my head on her at all times. But I don't mind ;)
Like everyone predicted, she is learning by leaps and bounds. We’ve started trying out baby sign language. So far so good! Our most used signs are eat, more, mama, dada and sleep. I really want to keep at it because I believe this will help us to better communicate in the future when she isn't able to express herself verbally. When I close the curtains for a nap she squeaks out a little cry because she has learned to associate the darkness with going to sleep. When she poked her finger up my nose particularly hard and I said OUCH in a stern tone, she cried thinking she had gotten in trouble. She recognizes herself in mirrors and videos. And she has also started to dance a little to music – so cute! We are working on teaching her to clap and shake her sound producing toys... still a work in progress. But overall, impressing me everyday with her ability to understand and communicate.
